A very special birthday for me this year. I get to celebrate in Austraila, and the good guys at Pocket Music have even offered to let me play a gig on my birthday! AANNNND… it’s their first birthday too! What a coincidence! Gonna be SOME party, I’m sure :D
The month of March see’s the 12th Pocket Music show which consequently means it has been running for a whole year and we plan to celebrate this milestone with a massive party! Including our first guest from Japan (Cheapshot), Two EP launches (godinpants and Dot.AY) and the introduction of two new faces from the local Brisbane Scene (Rubijaq and Slato) … Saturday March 12th 6:30pm-12am .. PARTY!!!! (poster by Simon Cottee)
The line up:
Cheapshot: From Tokyo, Japan this guy creates some of the fiercest game boy bass music ever. Influenced by dubstep and the future beats movements he creates a wobbly bass heavy onslaught of rhythms and sounds. Recently his tracks were picked up by super netlabel 8bitpeoples, you can download that release here and start getting excited.
godinpants: From Sydney and part-whale this is the first Brisbane show for the brutal chip punk that is godinpants. Having been active in the Australian scene a few years now he has recently focussed his sound on harsh noisy gameboy beats accompanied by a wall of distorted bass played live on a Bass Guitar. This show will also act as an EP launch for his first release of this new material.
Supported by local veterans Dot.AY (who will be releasing his new bass thumping EP “Ceratopian Society”), AndyExpandy and VGX. Finally the night kicks off early with two fresh new Brisbane artists playing their debut chipmusic performances introducing both Slato and Rubijaq to the Pocket Music crew.
